Activity description Icam is a multi-site school for general engineers in France and abroad. It maintains close relationships with industry by developing partnerships and carrying out several R&D projects each year.
Even though the students have to go through the basics in almost all engineering fields, specific courses and projects are offered all year round by the different labs: Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Industrial Engineering, Electronics & IT, Energy and Humanities.
More specifically, the Metal Additive Manufacturing activities address Research projects within the Aerospace industry. Two labs of the Icam campus at Toulouse are strongly involved in these activities:
The Mechanical Eng. Lab: Tests & Behaviour Modelling of Metallic Lattice Structures, Topology Optimization, F.E. Simulations for AM Processes (Static and Dynamic Testing, Thermal Chamber, Residual Stress Measurements, Digital Image Correlation).
The Materials Science Lab: Study of Influence of Parameters on Mechanical Properties (Post-Build Thermal Treatments, Defects, Porosity Rate, Fractography, Metallographic Analyses of Microstructure, Tomography, Design of Experiments).
